Rambelles Face St. Edward's, Midwestern State in Final Regular Season Matches

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Following one of their most complete matches of the season, the Angelo State women's soccer team wraps up the Lone Star Conference regular season this week with a Tuesday night contest at home against St. Edwards before traveling to Midwestern State for the regular season finale.

NEED TO KNOW
  • The Rambelles won their only match last week, beating Texas Woman's 3-0 behind two goals from Reagan Urbany and one from Cindy Rodriguez.
  • Urbany scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season against TWU, that is the first multiple goal game from a single player on the Belles all season.
  • Sophomore Grace Jordan ranks sixth in the Lone Star Conference with seven goals on the season, her six game-winning goals are the best mark in the LSC.  
  • Valerie Solis, Katelin Heise, and Rodriguez share the team lead with four assists this season, they are tied for seventh in the LSC.
  • Kira Miller, the reigning Lone Star Conference goalkeeper of the year, has 51 saves on the season, she is 3 saves away from tying the ASU all-time record of 297 which is currently held by Lisa Carey and Becky Martin. She already holds the Belles all-time shutouts (38) and wins (55) titles.
  • Miller sits second in the LSC with 10 shutouts this season, ranking top three in all of NCAA DII.
  • Hill and Miller have each played all 1,440 minutes of the 2022 season.
  • Jordan and Miller earned LSC honors after wins against Eastern New Mexico and St. Mary's in match week five.
  • Hill was recognized as the LSC Defensive Player of the Week in match week four after shutting out both Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian.
  • Miller also earned LSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a shutout and six saves in match week two against Colorado School of Mines and Regis.
  • Miller and backline staple Cassidy Hill were announced as LSC preseason Goalkeeper and Defender of the year, both for the second consecutive season.
  • Mia Czarnecki and Rodriguez have announced that they will be utilizing their COVID year, utilizing their extra season of eligibility.
  • Czarnecki and Hill were announced as captains for the 2022 campaign.
  • ASU returns 19 of 28 letterwinners from the 2021 season which saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA DII National Tournament.
  • The Belles have outscored their opponents 27-8 through 16 games, averaging 1.69 goals per contest, only allowing opponents 0.50, the second-best mark in the conference.
  • Head Coach Travis McCorkle enters his 15th season at the helm of the Belles program, looking to add more hardware following the team's second consecutive LSC Tournament Championship.
  • Assistant Coach Harold Muñoz enters his sixth season with the Belles, and Avery McNeme enters the coaching ranks as the Belles graduate assistant following five years on the pitch.
 
ANGELO STATE vs. ST. EDWARDS
  • St. Edward's holds the all-time series advantage over the Rambelles, 14-7-2.
  • SEU won last years contest 2-1 in overtime in Austin on a rainy afternoon.
  • St. Edwards comes to San Angelo holding an 8-4-4 record in 2022, they currently sit in sixth position in the conference with a 4-3-3 record.
  • The Hilltoppers have gone winless in their last three matches, losing 1-0 to West Texas A&M, drawing 4-4 with UT Tyler, and most recently losing 5-1 to Lubbock Christian at home.
  • Tristyn Cabello leads the offense for the Hilltoppers, she has six goals to go along with two assists.
  • Katie Gay has added five goals herself for SEU.
  • Abby Carlson is the Hilltoppers number one goalie, she has made 51 saves this season and has four solo shutouts and two combined shutouts.
 
ANGELO STATE at. MIDWESTERN STATE
  • The Mustangs have a slight advantage all time against the Rambelles, holding a 18-16-7 record.
  • MSU won last season in overtime in San Angelo 2-1, prior to that loss the Belles had won five straight against the Mustangs.
  • Midwestern State has one win in their previous three contests, they lost 2-0 to West Texas A&M, lost 1-0 to Lubbock Christian, and most recently bested UT Tyler 2-1 at home.
  • The Mustangs matchup with Texas Woman's before hosting the Belles in the conference finale on Friday.
  • The MSU offense runs through Lexi Beck who currently has one goal and six assists on the season, her six assists rank second most in the LSC.
  • Brynn Covington is the Mustangs leading goal scorer with four on the year.
  • Lexi Jackson is the only keeper to have registered playing time this year, she has three shutouts and has a .750 save percentage.
