NORMAN, Okla. – The Angelo State track & field teams wrapped up the 2024 Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships with both teams earning silver at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex in Norman, Okla.
The Rams finished with 122 total team points with three titles while the sixth-ranked Rambelles earned 155 points with four individual titles.
Josh Body started the day for the Rams, claiming the crown in the triple jump with a mark of 15.21m (49'-11"), jumping nearly a foot and a half farther than second place.
Winning the heptathlon was
Elvis Kryukov who finished with 5,399 total points. Finishing third was
Mark Burdin with 5,177 points while
Kyle Lumpkins took fifth with 5,055 points. Kryukov also finished second overall in the shot put, tossing a mark of 15.25m (50'-0.5").
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Prince Frimpong,
Max Wassmer,
Bossman Pinkrah, and
Tristan Guerrero claimed the title after combining for a time of 3:16.00.
Guerrero earned silver in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 48.87 followed by Wassmer in fifth at 49.80.
David Morgan also picked up silver, running a time of 6.79 in the 60-meter dash.
On the women's side,
Maricia Spence collected her second championship of the meet, taking first overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.52 while
Ariyah Samuels finished third overall with a time of 8.69.
Claiming the crown in the 400-meter dash was Shade Findley who ran a time of 54.32 while
Fatoumata Kabo earned silver at 54.46.
In the women's triple jump,
Abby Zamzow finished in second with a jump of 12.23m (40'-1.50") while
Allison Vaughn finished third with a mark of 11.93m (39'-1.75").
Kylyie Paden finished second overall in the women's high jump, clearing a height of 1.62m (5'-3.75").
Jacent Nyamahunge earned a spot on the podium, finishing third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.53. She also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash, finishing at 24.77.
In the women's 4x400-meter relay,
Zykia McDaniel, A Harrison,
Kylie Frush, And
Averie Griffith took fourth overall, running a time of 3:51.01.
West Texas A&M took the conference title on both sides while Texas A&M – Kingsville finished third on the men's side and UT Tyler took third on the women's.
The ASU track & field teams will look to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships which begin on Friday, Mar. 8 to wrap up the indoor season.
