SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams concluded the 2024 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday, collecting four more event wins as the eighth-ranked Rambelles finished second overall while the Rams took fourth.
The Belles tallied 168.5 team points in the meet with five conference titles overall while the Rams collected 91 with two titles.
ASU won the final two events of the meet, sweeping the 1,600-meter relays.
Zykia McDaniel,
Fatoumata Kabo,
Kylie Frush, and
Shadae Findley set a new meet record on the women's side, crossing the finishing line in 3:38.36 which is the fourth fastest time in Division II this season. On the men's side,
Max Wassmer,
Prince Frimpong,
Bossman Pinkrah, and Antonio Blair took gold with a time of 3:10.30, winning by more than two seconds.
Kabo also earned a conference title in the women's 400-meter relay, running a time of 58.30, while
Allison Vaughn finished third overall at 1:01.91.
The Belles had two on the podium in the 100-meter hurdles as
Averie Griffith finished first overall with a time of 14.00 while
Ariyah Samuels took third at 14.29.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Samuels, Kabo, McDaniel, and
Alliyah Harrison finished second overall, running a time of 46.10 while
Shadae Findley also took second, running 52.89 in the 400-meter dash.
Anna Riccomagno finished seventh in the women's javelin, tossing a mark of 35.63m (116-11) while Harrison finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.93.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of
David Morgan,
Solomon Odonkor,
Dorian Leda, and Frimpong earned silver, crossing the finish line in 40.67.
Blair also earned a spot on the podium in the 800-meter run, finishing second overall with a time of 1:48.93 while Odonkor finished fourth in the 200-meter dash at 21.59.
In the men's javelin,
Luis Alvarado took third overall with a throw of 63.20m (207-4) while Morgan ran 10.56 to earn fifth in the 100-meter dash.
The Rams had three runners earn points in the 400-meter hurdles as
Ruben Davila took fifth (54.62), followed by
Brad Humphreys in sixth (54.64), and
JoeMarcus Mireles in seventh (54.65.
ASU will take a week off before heading to the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Emporia, Kan., beginning March 23.
