Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

No. 16 Rambelles Travel to Oklahoma for Two Matches Against Central Oklahoma, No. 24 Missouri Western

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team hits the road this week for the first time this season as they take on Central Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 14th and Missouri Western on Saturday, Feb. 15th.

Head Coach Jason Potthoff looks to start his third spring season strong after making it to the round of 16 last year for the first time in school history. Belles tennis starts this season ranked 16th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll.
 
The Belles are coming into the contest 3-0, after defeating Seward County, Collin County, and Northeastern State, 6-1.
 
The Bronchos are coming into the matchup 1-0 after defeating Arkansas Tech 5-1. 
 
The Belles are 1-6 all-time against Central Oklahoma winning their last matchup 4-2 on Feb.17, 2024.
 
The Belles will be taking on Missouri Western for the first time in program history on Saturday, Feb.15th. The Griffins come into the matchup with the Rambelles, 2-1. The Griffins are 11-5 overall in singles play and 4-4 in doubles action.
 
Elise Gillis, Margaux Rene, and Ivet Stancheva are tied for the team lead in wins in singles play with three. 
 
Margaux Rene through her first three collegiate matches is 6-0 winning three doubles matches and three singles matches.
 
Sophomore Ivet Stancheva, one of the returners from last year's team, keeps her good form going, as she is undefeated in her last nine matches in singles play. 
 
The Belles head into the Central Oklahoma matchup undefeated in doubles play, winning their first nine doubles matches of the year, led by the No.3 ranked doubles team of Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz.
