Hall of Honor
Pierce Holt was a two-time first-team all-American football player in 1986 and 1987 for the Rams.
He was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Decade of the 1980's, following a career where he was a three-time first-team all-LSC pick and two-time LSC Defensive Player of the Year.
Holt also excelled in the classroom, twice being honored on the first-team academic all-LSC squad. In 1987, Holt also garnered the Small College Defensive Player of the Year award.
Holt's career continued in the NFL, as a second round draft pick with the San Francisco 49ers. He played five years for the 49ers and was a member of the back-to-back Super Bowl Championship teams in 1988 and 1989. In 1988, Holt earned all-NFL Rookie laurels. He twice earned all-Pro honors, making Pro Bowl appearances those seasons. He completed his eight-year playing career with the Atlanta Falcons, and at the time he joined the Falcons, he was the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
Since retiring from football, Holt stills receives accolades for his efforts. In 1997, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of
Fame and named to the Division II Team of the Quarter Century. Holt was also inducted into the Division II Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Holt remains an active member of the community, participating in several charitable and philanthropic endeavors.
