MELBOURNE, Florida – The Angelo State tennis team fell to Florida Tech 6-3 on Tuesday in Melbourne to complete their trip through The Sunshine State.
The loss halted a three-match win streak for the Belles, who moved to 9-4 overall at the midpoint of their 2018 season.
ASU started off strong in the doubles portion of the match, taking leads on all three courts early. The only pairing to finish with a win, however, was Virginie Becth and Yasmine Ansari, who defeated their opponents 8-2 on court three.
On court two, Lucie Maitrot and Zoe Gubbels went up 2-0 to start the match, but were quickly locked in a battle that ended in a close 9-7 loss.
Ena Ovcina and Maria Delgadillo went up early on court one as well, but then fell into a 5-2 hole and were unable to recover, losing 8-3.
The Belles were then only able to take two points in the singles potion of the match, as Florida Tech came out on top, 6-3.
Angelo State will be off for more than a week now before traveling to Colorado where they will take on Colorado Mesa and Colorado State-Pueblo on March 23 in Pueblo, Colorado.
