SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State tennis team dropped its second match in as many days, once again falling just short by a score of 5-4 to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Belles are now 14-7 on the season and finished their inaugural year in the Lone Star Conference with a  3-3 record in LSC play.
ASU started off the match well, gaining an early lead by taking two of the three doubles points. On court two, Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht remained undefeated as a pair, winning 8-5. The two are now 5-0 when playing together on the second doubles court.
Lucie Maitrot and Yasmine Ansari also won a point on court three, taking down their TAMUK opponent 8-3. ASU's only doubles loss came on court one, as Ena Ovcina and Maria Delgadillo went into a tiebreaker set at 8-8 but fell just short.
Ovcina bounced back quickly in singles play, winning handedly on court one. She shut out here opponent 6-0 in the first set and dropped just one game in the second set for the Belles' first singles point.
Ansari also earned a point in singles play, winning 6-4, 6-3, but it would be the last point ASU won on the day.
The Javelinas came all the way back from their 4-1 deficit, winning on the remaining four singles courts to take the overall win.
ASU has just two matches left in the regular season this spring and will take on Southern Nazarene and Central Oklahoma on April 13 and 14.
