Belles Tennis Travel for Matchups Against DBU and Midwestern State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 12th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team will take its undefeated Lone Star Conference record on the road as they face DBU and 17th-ranked Midwestern State starting Friday.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Belles earned two conference victories at home last weekend, defeating St, Mary's 5-2 and Texas A&M – Kingsville 6-1. Maria Delgadillo went 4-0 on the weekend, winning both doubles matches at the No. 3 position and winning in singles play at No. 4 and No. 3 to earn LSC Player of the week.
 
#12 ANGELO STATE (9-3, 4-0 LSC) vs. DBU (13-3, 4-1 LSC)
SCOUTING DALLAS BAPTIST:
The Patriots have entered a hot streak since falling in their first LSC match of the season, winning four in a row to hold a 4-1 conference record entering the weekend. The only loss came in their conference opener against Midwestern State, losing 6-1. DBU swept both Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin and picked up wins against UAFS and Cameron.
 
Taylor Leslie leads the Patriots with a 15-1 overall record in singles play while her and Kate Daugherty have combined for a 9-3 record as a pair doubles play. Adriana Carpenter holds a 13-2 record in singles while Daugherty is 9-3.
 
Leslie and Daugherty are ranked in the Oracle ITA Division II Women's Singles rankings at No. 49 and No. 50 respectively.
 
#12 ANGELO STATE (9-3, 4-0 LSC) vs. #17 MIDWESTERN STATE (9-5, 5-0 LSC)
SCOUTING DALLAS BAPTIST:
Midwestern State comes into the weekend with a 9-5 overall, going 5-0 in the LSC, and the 17th overall ranking in Division II.
 
The Mustangs have won four of their last five matches, only falling to fifth-ranked Central Oklahoma 4-0. MSU tallied the same scores against UTPB and WNMU as the Belles did, winning 7-0 and 6-1 respectively.
 
MSU has two players ranked in the Oracle ITA Singles rankings in Tiffany Hollebeck at No. 34 and Anda Ghinga at No. 45. They also have the 14th-ranked doubles team, featuring Hollebeck and Casie Curry. Hollebeck and Curry are 10-3 this season as a duo while in singles play, Hollebeck is 6-4 and Ghinga is 8-4.

The Belles enter the weekend ranked 12th in Division II while Valentina Gonzalez was selected 13th overall in the Oracle ITA Singles rankings. This season she has tallied a record of 7-3, winning the last four matches in a row. Along with her performance in singles, her and Ena Ovcina have been selected 13th in doubles, holding a record of 7-2 as a duo.
