SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's tennis team is back on the road this weekend as the Rambelles head to Oklahoma.
Friday at 9 a.m., the Belles will be taking on Northeastern State, before going up against Southern Arkansas on Saturday at 2 p.m., in a neutral site match in Lawton, Okla.
The Belles have only gone against the Riverhawks twice before, winning both matches. The Riverhawks are currently 2-0 to start their season. The Belle's last match against the Riverhawks was a 6-1 win on the road. In the last match,
Ramitha Irrinki and
Ayda Guler won their doubles match on line two 6-0. For singles,
Ayda Guler,
Eva Schwartz,
Ramitha Irrinki, and
Mieke Van Deventer all won their matches to secure the 6-1 win.
So far this season
Ramitha Irrinki is 4-0 in singles.
Mieke Van Deventer and
Esther Bowers are also 1-0 on the season. The doubles team of
Eva Schwartz and
Esther Bowers is currently undefeated this season with a 5-0 record.
On Saturday the Belles will be going up against the Muleriders for the second time in history. The Muleriders are currently on a three-match losing streak with a 2-5 record on the season.
Dianela Rodriguez who played in this match won her singles line 7-6, 6-4.
Ayda Guler who also participated in the match won her doubles line 6-3.
Following this weekend, the Belles are back at home for a Friday 2 p.m. match against Ouachita Baptist and a Sunday 12 p.m. match against Texas A&M – Kingsville to open Lone Star Conference play.
