San Angelo, Texas - The 23rd-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team looks to keep up the momentum this weekend with a pair of matches in Arkansas.
The Belles will take on Southern Arkansas on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and then go up against Delta State on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Both matches will take place in Magnolia, Arkansas.
The Belles have only played the Muleriders twice in program history and hold a 2-0 record, winning 5-2, and 6-1 in the two previous contests.
The Muleriders have yet to start their season, only playing exhibitions to this point in the season. They kick off their season against Dallas Baptist University on February 9th.
In the last match against the Muleriders, Esther Bowers and
Eva Schwartz won line two 6-4, and
Dianela Rodriguez and
Letizia Corsini won line three 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker to give the Rambelles a double point. The Belles won six singles matches in the dual, to get a 6-1 victory.
Delta State starts its season on February 6th against Meridan Community College. The Belles have had four match ups against the Lady Statesmen since 2019, with all four of those matches being at neutral site locations. The Blue and Gold have four wins against the Lady Statesmen, winning the last three match ups 6-1 and the first-ever matchup in 2019 7-0.
Following this weekend of matches, the Belles return home to take on Central Oklahoma on February 17th, before hitting the road a day later to take on Harding in Plano, Texas, on February 18th.
