Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Rambelles Start LSC Play With a 4-3 Victory Over Texas A&M - Kingsville


Kingsville, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team extended their winning streak to six matches with a 4-3 victory over Texas A&M -Kingsville.
 
At no. 2 doubles, Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini would defeat Raina Zaffar and Luna Jokanovic 6-3. The pair moves to 9-0 in doubles action with the victory.
 
Mike Van Deventer and Ivet Stancheva would clinch the doubles point for the Rambelles, winning on No.3 doubles against Ella Hester and Annika Andersson Gomez.
 
At no. 1 doubles, Eva Schwartz and Avery Durham would fall to Alessa Maier and Milou Ter Morsche  7-6.
 
At no. 1 singles, Letizia Corsini would defeat #10 Alessa Maier according to ITA 6-3, 6-1 to give the Rambelles a 2-0 advantage and move to 8-0 on the year in singles play.
 
At No 2 singles Eva Schwartz would get back on track at No singles and get the well-deserved win over Luna Jokanovic 6-1, 6-3 to put the Rambelles up 3-0 early.
 
Milou Ter Morsche would get the first point for the Rambelles at No. four singles against Ayda Guler, where she would fall in straight sets 6-2.
 
Jessica Li would clinch the contest for the Rambelles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Manuela Turolo at line three.
 
Raina Zaffar would get the better of Ivet Stancheva on line six 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 to get the second point for the javelinas.
Annika Andersson Gomez would get the better of Avery Durham, winning 6-7 7-6 1-0 on line five. 
 
The Rambelles will be in action March 11-15 in Orlando, Florida as they will face Sioux Falls, Emporia State and Slippery Rock.
