KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Angelo State cross country program competed at the Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Kingsville, Texas. The Rams ran first in the 8K and finished in 11
th place while the Rambelles clinched ninth in the 6K.
RAMS
- The men finished the morning with a total of 358 points to earn 11th place.
- Austin Souther was the first Ram to cross the finish line with a season-best time of 27:08.84, which earned him a 63rd place finish.
- Alex Hauck completed the race about 41 seconds later as he was the last Ram to run sub 28 minutes in the event as his time earned 69 points.
RAMBELLES
- In the 6K, the Rambelles finished in ninth place as a team, finishing ahead of Lubbock Christian, Western New Mexico, Texas A&M International and UTPB.
- For the fourth event in a row, Allison Vaughn and Mary Brown finished atop the team's running lineup as they finished back-to-back of one another and earned a combined 67 points.
- The reigning Freshman Women Runner of the Week, Chasity Benson, finished in 55th place individually and earned 49 points.
- Ashley Stratton was the final Rambelle to collect a sub-25-minute time as she earned 52 points.
The program will now wait two weeks before traveling to Denver, Colo. to compete in the South Central Regional on Saturday, Nov. 9.
